I’ve been working with Alexis since the beginning, so when she contacted me about updating her headshots, I said yes right away. Her personal brand session in Charleston was full of laughs and, of course, meaningful conversations.
Getting to work with Alexis means having good conversations, always. I’ll always remember our first session and meeting up at the cutest coffee shop in the upstate. She was one of my very first brand photography sessions when I was leaving the wedding world. She is genuinely one of the easiest women to work with, and this session was no different.
For this session, she was gearing up for a big transition, and it was so fun hearing about the new direction she was heading professionally. Seeing her shift in her career with so much grace has been amazing. Of course, she doesn’t shy away from sharing the challenging, real moments but always shares the behind the scenes with optimism and grit!
For this session, we kept things simple and sweet. We chose one of my favorite streets in downtown Charleston for portraits and kept the wardrobe to just two looks.
I especially love the secret weapon of the plain cream-colored plaster wall along this route. It always offers the best clean and simple backdrop, no matter the time of day or weather! It’s perfect for any occasion, and I love having it in my back pocket for portrait sessions.
Alexis told me ahead of time she wanted her “black girl magic” to really shine through in her images. While I can’t take credit for her shine, I truly love how these portraits came together, and we really nailed her vision. Joyful, happy new images for a new adventure for this inspiring woman!
Alexis, working with you is always the best.
