This brand photo session for DC-based wedding and boudoir photographer Maddy Williams was a treat. I was so honored that she asked me to come to Washington, DC, for her brand session with her team.
The Line Hotel | Boudoir Photography
We started our session at the stunning Line Hotel in Adams Morgan. This hotel, in particular, has been on my “list” for quite some time so, when it ended up being in the running for one of our locations, we were all thrilled.
For the first half of our session, we focused on the boudoir side of Maddy’s photography business. This part was extra challenging (in the best way) because we worked in such a tight space, with multiple people in the shot. I loved the challenge of keeping the model’s identity incognito while making sure Maddy looked amazing. There were three of us in one room, and angles were key. I loved how these turned out and was so proud of how we were able to document this part of the day.
The second part of our day was at the DAR. I photographed a wedding as a second shooter here years and years ago. One of my “dream venues” at the time was to shoot there again. Little did I know it would happen years later, but as a brand photographer. I can’t tell you how many full-circle moments like this I’ve had over the years. I was adding dream destinations to my mental vision board and having them come to life in entirely new ways. It’s been the best reminder to trust how things naturally unfold.
During our planning meeting, I loved helping Maddy narrow down where to host her brand session. We had a few others in mind, but these two were on our list from the beginning, and I couldn’t be more thrilled with how we incorporated these beautiful spaces.
Wardrobe Styling & Hair and Makeup
I had an amazing experience working with Katherine Bignon a few years ago on another DC Brand Session and was thrilled to have her as part of the team again. She helped Maddy choose and style her looks for the session, and they both rocked it!
Evergreen Beaty was also such a huge part of the day. Their team styled everyone’s hair and makeup, and we all had the best time with them being on set. I loved the energy of the entire day, and they did a beautiful job!
